Declaration of the Article 29 Working Party
Within the reunion held on the 4th of December 2013, Article 29 Working Party (composed of the representatives of the supervisory authority for data protection from the Member States of the European Union) published a declaration through which welcomes the vote of the LIBE Commission (Liberty and Justice) of the European Parliament concerning the European legislative package in the data protection field, composed of:
- Proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data;
- Proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by competent authorities for the purposes of prevention, investigation, detection or prosecution of criminal offences or the execution of criminal penalties, and the free movement of such data.
Article 29 Working Party requests to all the parties involved the intensification of the efforts in order to adopt this reform package also at the level of the European Union Council.
